TIMELINE NOTES: Midsummer. After Painful Signal because she knows about his arm. They practice shooting together and talk about their past. They make promises to each other. MC is slowly beginning to understand that Caleb will always be Caleb, is like an important to step to close their fights and disagreements. He’s staying in Linkon and they hold hands and hug in the bathroom while he has only his towel, so it’s in Romance Arc. Since it’s Midsummer it’s after Intertwined Gold, which happens in spring.

Caleb and MC sands and paints MC’s toy gun together. They are fully in sync, that familiar dance of interactions and banter they have. They’re trying to bring the toy back to life, like it was 10 years ago.

While MC is trying to get the perfect shade to the gunstock, Caleb suggests her to chanage it up since she used to complain it wasn’t bright enough as a kid. She takes the brush and pretends to think about it, then dabs the red and pokes his cheek with the brush handle. She says she’ll just paint flowers and plants to show his team and to spruce up his image as an “amiable and friendly” boss.

In the wooden crate she finds a bunch of dolls, models, cards and even a contract from insurence program that has both of them as parties on ten years in the future that Josephine had put them on.

Caleb assembles the gun while she rummages through the crate. They talk about how they came a long way from patrolling with paper guns in the shelter until now.

Once he finishes assembling the gun, MC tests it in a magazine by the shelter, but the gun doesn’t reload, they notice a crack on the cylinder. He says he knows a place where they could fix it.

In a vintage shop on the outskirts of the city, a place that sells “junk” full of story and magic. THe shopkeeper can replace the cilinder.

MC looks at the props from movie sets at the store, when a holster catches MC’s attention, Caleb asks the shopkeeper why it hasn’t been sold in so many years. Caleb helps her put it on her waist. It’s then that Caleb says he worked here for a whole summer when he was in high school to gather money to buy her the toy gun, an authentic movie set prop from the movie “Hunting Games”, her favorite Western from when she was in middle school.

Once she realizes it’s actually a spare prop from the movie itself, she pinches his cheek, because he never told her before. He had said: “With this gun, you’ll be the Wild West’s Guardian” and she replied: “Caleb will be my knight whol swears an oath to protect the Guardian”.

Caleb says he’s glad he didn’t say anything, otherwise Grandma would’ve taken the toy and she’d have cried.

After the toy gun is fixed, MC catches a cowboy hat and puts it on Caleb. She pulls the brim of his hat and repeats her youner self words: “With this, you’re the Guardian’s knight. Together, we’ll uphold justice in this Wild West. Will you join me?” He places his right hand on his left shoulder and kneels to salute her: “The pleasure is all mine”.

After fixing the gun the go to the suburban shooting range to test their skills. Their shots hit the bullsye almost simultaneously. Caleb praises her for her improvement, and they discuss how she learned it with him when they were younger, by shooting apples on top of cans. He says their skills are very similar, and that she even impressed Gideon and the others.

They were close, Caleb behind her, lifting her wrist and whispering near her temple, but their banter is suddenly interrupted by Caleb’s distraction with something. He makes an excuse of buying her some smoothies and leaves.
